About the Event
This live session is part of a series of webinars which aim to highlight the importance of intellectual property (IP) in the development of businesses in today’s world. Particularly, the focus will revolve around the relationship between businesses and the Internet. We will analyze how companies commonly sharing market interests over trademarks, copyrights, geographic indications, industrial designs, patents, etc. can benefit from or be damaged by digital channels. Furthermore, we will discuss opportunities and challenges when it comes to IP protection online.
In the first part, Dr. George Tzogopoulos, Senior Research Fellow at the Centre International de Formation Européenne and Research Associate and Expert in media and politics at the Begin Sadat Center for Strategic Studies (BESA), will give an introductory presentation on the current risks and opportunities that can be found on Internet, especially during this difficult period of COVID-19.
In the second part, Dr. Marta Bettinazzi, IP Business Advisor of the South-East Asia IPR SME Helpdesk, will explain the relevance of IP in the age of the Internet and delve more deeply into how to protect IP rights in the Philippines.
