Italy's blue-flag resorts rise by 10 to 246

The number of Italian seaside and lakeside resorts awarded the prestigious blue flag designation for cleanliness and sustainability has risen by 10 to 246 this year, the international Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) said in its annual report on Tuesday.

There were 15 Italian new entries, but five municipalities lost their flags.

The number of Italian blue flag marinas was also up, from 81 to 85, and a total of 487 Italian beaches can fly the flag this year, 11.5% of the worldwide total.

Liguria again leads the way with 33 blue-flag resorts, although this was one down on 2024, followed by Puglia, which has 27 after three new entries, and Calabria, which was also up three to 23.
